Watkinsville Christmas Parade!

On Saturday, December 3, at 11 am, come to scenic downtown Watkinsville and enjoy the annual Christmas Parade!  Among the many floats will be one featuring the campers from ESP (Extra Special People), who are "Dreaming of a White Christmas"!  Marching bands will play, lots of candy will be tossed, and the parade will conclude with a visit from Santa, so don't miss it!

Stone Soup Fridays @ Princeton UMC

Princeton United Methodist Church hosts Stone Soup Fridays, offering a fun recreation night for children with special needs - and an evening out for their parents!  Children enjoy games, crafts, music and hanging out with friends; arrival time is 6:45 pm, and activities last until 9:30 pm.  The cost is $5.00 per child, and reservations are required.  Upcoming Friday dates are November 18, with a Christmas Camp planned for Saturday, December 17, from 10am - 3pm!  Reserve your spot at Stone Soup by contacting Teresa Nunn at StoneSoup_Princeton@msn.com or call (706) 769-9549.

Oconee Special Basketball League

Oconee County Parks and Recreation is currently taking registration for the Oconee Special Basketball League.  This is a recreational basketball program designed to allow children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities (e.g. autism, intellectual disabilities, etc.) to learn the fundamentals of basketball while interacting in a team atmosphere with peers with and without disabilities.   Players will be grouped according to age/skill level; the fee for the season is $55.   A Parent/Care Taker organizational meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15,  at 6:15 pm at Oconee Veterans Park Community Center.  For more information, please contact Jared Hightower at jhightower@oconee.ga.us.  The just-concluded OCP&R Special Soccer season was a big success - please come and join us for basketball, and let's keep this important program growing!!!

Upcoming Georgia Autism Conference

The Georgia Autism Conference, titled "Autism: Is There An App for That? - Technology and Apps for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum", will be in Macon on Saturday, November 19, from 8:30 to 4:00 at the Holiday Inn - Macon, North,  3953 Riverplace Drive, Macon, GA  31210.  Presenters will give information on video modeling and other classroom applications for new technology.  Early registration of $69 ends on November 12th.  For more info, or to register, here's the link:   http://www.georgiaautismconferences.com/.
