Oconee Spring Parent Academy

The weather is changing, and spring is here - the perfect time to grow and learn!  Put Saturday, April 19 on your calendar & plan to grow with us at Oconee County Schools' Spring Academy, especially for parents of students with disabilities!  From 9:30 to 1:30, at Oconee County Elementary, parents will learn about "Growing a Positive Behavior Plan", with Jason Cavin, from Georgia State University's Center for Leadership in Disability.  The Positive Behavior Supports process enables families to discover the roots of behavioral challenges, and develop specific strategies for addressing them...partnering with their child's school to help their student be successful.  Parents will have the opportunity to develop a specific plan to meet their child's needs!

Spring Academy is free to those who pre-register!  Volunteers from AutismUGA are planning children's activities, including an egg hunt, for those parents who require childcare in order to attend the workshop - and Oconee Pilot Club is sponsoring lunch for attendees, too!  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, no later than Wednesday April 16!  Contact Amy McCollum at amccollum@oconeeschools.org or 706-769-5130 ext 1210 to reserve your place, and take advantage of this opportunity!

Oconee Challenge Baseball

If your child loves baseball, but typical Little League baseball isn't a good fit, consider trying Challenge Baseball!  In cooperation with Oconee Little League, the group will play on Saturdays, with buddies/coaches who support and guide them as they learn the basics of baseball and play scrimmage games.  There is a team sponsor, so there is no cost to play.  Opening day is March 22, at the Bogart Sports Complex!  Games will be every Saturday morning until May 17.  If interested, please contact Lisa Nelms at lisalm@bellsouth.net or 706-769-1102 soon to ensure your player's uniform is ordered in time.
