Georgia Hands and Voices is offering part 2 of their free parent training, to provide educational advocacy skills to parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, or have other disabilities. Advocacy, Support and Training (ASTra) Part 2 will be on Saturday, April 22, from 10 am - 2 pm at the Watkinsville campus of Extra Special People (ESP), 189 VFW Drive, Watkinsville. Oconee Schools, Special Education and Parent to Parent of Georgia will present "Sifting Through Your Parental Rights" on Monday, April 17, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Oconee Veterans Park community room (3500A Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville). This workshop will provide parents of students with disabilities an overview of their rights under IDEA, including confidentiality, consent, prior notice, free and appropriate public education (FAPE), and dispute resolution methods.
