The 2018 Northeast Georgia Disability Conference and Resource Expo is Saturday, February 24, from 9 am to 2 pm at Piedmont College Athens, 595 Prince Avenue. The conference theme is "Mapping Your Unique Route"; parents of students with learning differences are encouraged to attend and gather the tools they need to plan their students' unique route to life after high school. Resources and information will be available to meet a wide variety of needs, from supporting the transition to college life, to making the transition to adult health care, to planning for the financial future and guardianship of a child with special needs. There are also sessions with resources for students with reading disabilities, and working on challenging behavior. Oconee County Schools is a leading partner in planning this conference, which is an initiative of the Northeast Georgia Transition Team (NEGATT), a collaboration of 13 local school districts and community partners, serving families of students with learning differences or disabilities. Registration is free, through Eventbrite.com (search for "NEGATT"). For more information and conference session descriptions, visit ne.glrs.org.
